This
is a script I did for myself a long time ago. It was to improve my concentration for competitive steel dart tournaments. --- Barney

Concentration for Darts Script
(Use any induction [I used the Elman induction] and any deepener to begin.)
As
you relax comfortably and peacefully, now, allow yourself to drift deeper and deeper.
Leave behind the outer world and direct your attention to your inner world.
Focus and concentrate on the suggestions you are hearing. Picture and
imagine by . . . visualizing . . . hearing . . . sensing and feeling . . . these things . . . while accepting these suggestions. Now use your wonderful imagination and imagine you are standing at the line before
the dartboard. Each dartboard is the same and you see the numbers, the colors,
shapes and wires. You feel relaxed . . . focused . . . and confident! You direct your attention, focus and concentrate easily. Sounds
and noises help you to focus, concentrate and relax even more. Any movement around you helps you to focus and concentrate
more intently on the spot you choose. Remember a time when you felt really relaxed
and played your best. Recall the feeling and the pride of playing your best and
winning. It is automatic. Concentrate
on the specific point you want your dart to hit into. It is effortless. Holding your dart securely in your fingers, you focus on the specific spot, let your
arm swing fully back and stroking fully forward, releasing the dart perfectly, seeing the dart hit the spot you focus on. Each throw is independent of the previous throw.
Each time you focus on a specific spot. Each time, grip your dart securely;
let your arm swing fully back and stroke fully forward, trusting your inner mind to guide you.
See the dart hit the specific spot you concentrate on. Stand still, at
the line; at the same distance and position in front of the dartboard. Concentrate
only on the spot you are focused on. Grip your dart securely, let your arm swing easily back and then fully forward, letting
your arm swing through, releasing the dart, perfectly, to hit the point you concentrating into. Each throw feels relaxed and sure. With each throw you are
more relaxed, focused and in control. Your body is still, relaxed and comfortable
. . . your mind, body and arm remain relaxed. You let each throw . . . flow .
. . automatically. Focus intently into the spot you are throwing the dart into. It is as if you are looking through a magnifier.
See only the spot you are focused on. As your vision zooms into that spot
. . . grip your dart securely, let your arm swing, releasing the dart perfectly and see the dart hitting that spot you are
focused into. Now picture and imagine you are walking up to the line. You stand at just the right spot at just the right angle. You
feel relaxed and confident and sure; focusing on only of that spot you want your dart to go into. Check your score and when you are sure of the number, focus your attention on the spot you are throwing
your dart into. Focus your concentrated attention on the location you are throwing
your dart into. When your mind zooms in to that spot, grip your dart securely, let your arm swing. Release the dart perfectly and see that dart go into the point you are focused on. Each throw is independent of the previous throw. You check
your number, focus on the next spot, let your mind focus your vision and attention on the specific spot then hold your dart
securely, let your arm swing releasing the dart perfectly see the dart sink into that specific spot. Then check your number again and repeat the procedure perfectly each time.
Focus your attention on the spot; let your mind concentrate your attention fully on the spot. Your arm swings, releasing the dart perfectly and you see the dart sink into the spot you focused on.
Between
your turns, check your score; decide what numbers you need next and how you are going to score them. Remain relaxed, keeping
your mind focused and relaxed also.
Now
take a moment while I stop talking. Imagine walking up to the line. See and feel what it is like to throw 3 triples 20s. Feel
and visualize focusing completely and seeing each throw hit the specific spot in the triple 20. When my voice returns you continue to relax comfortably. (Pause
10 - 15 seconds)
Now,
imagine throwing 3 double bulls. Picture and imagine walking up to the line. Pick your position on the line. Focus
your attention on the dartboard. See the bulls-eye. Now imagine throwing three darts into the bulls-eye on the dartboard.
(Pause 10-15 seconds)
Now
imagine you are at an out. Check your score. See the numbers you need to score
to win . . . hit those numbers, finishing with a double . . . Imagine hitting your double. Now relax and focus, imagine going
through the process . . . seeing the darts hitting the spots you need to win.
Now
each time you listen to this process your dart game improves. You focus and concentrate
more easily. Each time you play or practice darts you get better and better. You place your darts on the specific spot on dartboard as you get better and
better . . . directing your attention . . . focusing . . . and concentrating more easily, more intently. The more you listen to this tape the better you focus and concentrate and all you do.
Now,
in a moment, I will count up from 1 - 5. When I reach the number 5 you will take
a deep breath, allow your eyes to open and return to a normal state of consciousness, feeling refreshed, relaxed and better
than before.
1.
Beginning to come up.
2.
Each day you focus and concentrate better than before.
3.
Sounds, noises and movement help you to concentrate
even more intently.
4.
With the next number, you take a deep breath, open
your eyes and return back to a normal state of awareness feeling wonderful.
5.
All the way back . . . fully awake . . . fully alert
. . . vision and mind, sharp and clear.
